In the Archaeological Museum of Argos movable finds from the area of the city of Argos, the western part of the lowland and mountainous Argolida are being housed. Dating from prehistoric times to the Roman era.
The building complex of the museum consists of two parts, a listed monument, "Kallergeio" and a new wing. The permanent exhibition includes three halls. The largest room on the ground floor of the new section of the museum. In this, the exhibition follows a chronological order, with finds from the Middle Helladic period until classical times. Among the most important exhibits is a great funerary compass, one bronze armor, iron spits with krateftes in ship shape Geometric period (8th century BC), a crater part of the 7th century BC depicting the blinding of Polyphemus one lyre made with turtle shell and a red-figure Attic vase painter Ermonakta.
On the ground "Kallergeiou" finds from the prehistoric settlement of Lerna dating from the Early Neolithic Pperiod to the Mycenaean era are being exhibited. The most important exhibits are the clay female figurine Neolithic, the circular hearth and clay imprints seals from the first hellenic village of Lerna.
Upstairs the "Kallergeiou" sculptures from the region, mostly copies of classical works. Particularly noteworthy are a relief of Eumenides Hellenistic period and a copy of the so-called Hercules 'Farnese' of Lysippos.
